About the House
Hale Lea is bright, airy, and comfortable, with a relaxing partial ocean view from the large covered front lanai, living room, and master bedroom. Wonderful sunsets are a part of the experience. From the rear lanai there is a scenic three-mountain vista (Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, and Hualalai), and dramatic sunrise views. A stereo cassette/CD player, two TVs, two DVD players and WiFi Internet access make for easy evenings. In addition, there is a gas barbecue grill on the front lanai. There's a dishwasher, microwave, washer/ dryer for your convenience. The bedrooms are even air-conditioned.
Hale Lea can easily accommodate up to six people comfortably (including children). The master bedroom has its own tiled bathroom and a queen-sized bed. The second bedroom also has a queen bed, and the third features two twin beds. (There is also a convertible sofa in the living room). Hale Lea Beach House is perfect for a romantic getaway, as well as a terrific place to bring the kids. Hale Lea's easy-to-use kitchen features a microwave, toaster oven, and all the serving platters, dining ware, and accessories necessary to prepare wonderful island meals at home, when you're not dining in one of the nearby restaurants. The outdoor barbeque comes in handy when grilling fresh fish from the local fish market. All bedrooms feature vaulted ceilings, large fans, and air conditioning (helpful June through September). Comfortable bedding is provided for a range of seasons. Beach towels are available too, so there's no need to bring anything except your own clothes and favorite books or music. |
What our guests are saying...
Mahalo. We had a great time at Hale Lea. Wonderful snorkeling in the bay at the end of the road. It was so nice to have 'our own place' to come home to at the end of the day. We loved the hammock and watching the glow of sunset as we sat on the lanai.

A wonderful time was had by all of our family - even little 3 month old Oscar! So many turtles and sheltered bay for us to swim. A great house to call home for a week.
- Rebecca and Barry, Australia
Make sure you do the small things here - the sunsets, the beaches, the snorkeling, the stuff that is free. There are still a dozen turtles across the street and the snorkeling at Kahaluu, south of Kona, is so safe with so many fish - it is better than when we first came in the 1980's.
